Campaign Story
* Typical cost of capstone projects (including registrations, travel and supplies) is about $1200.
* I am trying to raise $600 as family and school will cover the rest.
Goals for My Fundraiser:
Supporting my capstone project
*** I plan to pursue the project though participation in TSA activities like competitions and community service. ***
The Technology Student Association (TSA) is a national Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) that helps students explore STEM through hands-on projects, competitions, and leadership opportunities.
What is ‘Gaming for Global Health’
An innovative project that uses the medium of video games to simulate global health challenges and solutions, educating players about international health issues and diplomatic conflict resolution.
Why I am pursuing this project (My why)
- I am a ‘Relationship Builder’ personality type person with strong ‘advocate’ business potential.
- I’m super into being an Education Program Director for Outdoor Sports and Gaming, and I rock at being a Science Consultant for these industries. So, I’ve decided to take on a cool project as a Research Scientist to make groundbreaking health breakthroughs. I’m doing this because I believe it can help create a more peaceful world through smart solutions..
My plan of action: Competitions and Activities
Career Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) to join:
TSA – The Technology Student Association provides valuable opportunities in technology and leadership competitions, aligning with the student’s career pathway and passion projects that involve innovative tech solutions and creative problem-solving.
FBLA – Future Business Leaders of America focuses on business and leadership skills, providing experiences in teamwork, delegation, and consensus-building, which are essential for executing successful passion projects.
Competitions
This introductory competition allows the student to develop a digital project addressing social issues, aligning with the Gaming for Global Health passion project. It builds coding, creative problem solving, and digital storytelling skills.
HOSA – Extemporaneous Writing – Health Policy
This introductory competition encourages the student to research and articulate complex health policy issues, which complements the Gaming for Global Health project by developing the ability to communicate global health challenges clearly.
This competition offers a platform to create a dynamic 60-second video that can creatively communicate the essence of Gaming for Global Health. It is ideal for showcasing multimedia skills and conveying complex health concepts quickly.
This advanced competition enables the student to develop a comprehensive business plan that can operationalize the Gaming for Global Health project. It effectively bridges technical innovation with entrepreneurial strategy and scaling.
Community Service:
Global Health Awareness Workshop
Why it fits: This activity connects the Gaming for Global Health project with local community engagement. It offers a safe, interactive environment for discussing health issues and exploring digital solutions, tailored to the local context.
Implementation: Plan and host workshops in community centers within zip code 30319. The student will collaborate with local health educators to develop interactive sessions that use parts of the gaming project to educate peers and community members, with preparatory sessions conducted in Fall and the event held in Spring.
Skills Development: Public speaking, community outreach, health education, workshop facilitation
